UK: "Send Your Paycheck to Us First, and We'll Send You What You Need From It"
From CNBC:
The UK's tax collection agency is putting forth a proposal that all employers send employee paychecks to the government, after which the government would deduct what it deems as the appropriate tax and pay the employees by bank transfer.
Oh yeah... that sounds like it will work out just fine for their subjects. That type of system has holes all through it that would allow the opportunity for the British government to make mistakes.
One has to wonder if the British have been neutered enough to just roll over for this.
And how long until Nancy Pelosi tosses around the idea here? You'll hear cries from those who live off the government dole about how "that'll fix them millionaires who pay no taxes". (Newsflash for those idiots: those millionaires bought your food, your diapers, subsidize your rent and/or utilities, paid for that nice cell phone, and might even be paying your mortgage... likely unwillingly. Trust fund babies don't count, because the government still classifies them as living in poverty if they don't have an income other than their trust fund account.)
